About LPhiE
BACKGROUND
Lambda Phi Epsilon, the first and only national Asian American interest fraternity, can open numerous doors for you both now and many years down the road. We are a social /service fraternity with Asian American concerns and interests in mind. We aim to serve our community and university to the fullest of our abilities, along with providing Asian Awareness throughout. Lambda Phi Epsilon provides a common ground for men with similar goals and beliefs to come together and unite as one. Together as one, we can better channel our energy towards many charitable causes and beneficial events. As one, we can stand our ground on many issues and make the changes that we deem necessary. Helping our community and furthering the goals of our founding fathers some of the great things about Lambda Phi Epsilon National Fraternity, Inc.
The goal of Lambda Phi Epsilon is simple: To help our members become “Leaders Among Men”. We strive toward this goal through the many varied social, community, and campus awareness events that we participate in during the course of the semester. We are looking for the very best, young men who are dedicated and hardworking. In return, we offer the recognition and privileges of being a part of the only nationally chartered Asian Interest fraternity.
Lambda Phi Epsilon continues to establish and perpetuate Brotherhood and fellowship amongst its members. Part of that Brotherhood is expressed in our motto, “To be Leaders Among Men.” We not only seek to bring together a diverse group of men who share interests concerns, backgrounds and cultures, but who believes that the strength pf many are gorged into the power of being one.
Grounded on the principles of wisdom, honor, and courage, our Active division continues to teach young men principle of leadership and strong moral character. Our Alumni division then provides a forum in which brothers may apply these beliefs and become true leaders of society. It is that unique life ling commitment to lead in every arena of life that makes “the Lambdas” the most respected organization of its kind. We the Brothers of Lambda Phi Epsilon extend you an invitation to come and find out what benefits we have to offer.

SERVICE
The primary landmark of our fraternity is service to the community, particularly the Asian American community. As a fraternity, we provide philanthropy for worthy causes through service and charity. Our national philanthropy is the Asian American Donor Program, an agency of the National Marrow Donor Program.
The Asian American Donor Program (AADP) is a community non-profit organization geared towards saving lives. Asians are desperately needed to register as potential marrow/stem cell donors. Many Asian children and adults with life treatening blood diseases need a stem cell transplant in order to survive. Their best hope for matched donors are those within their Asian community. You could be a “miracle match” and save a life by registering as a potential donor.
LAMBDA HISTORY
Lambda Phi Epsilon was founded at UCLA on February 25, 1981, by the principal founder Craig Ishigo and a group of eighteen other dedicated men on the campus of the University of California at Los Angeles. The goal of the founders was to transcend the limitations to which traditional Asian American organizations were subject. While traditional Asian Campus organizations were often split along lines of national origins, the founders sought an organization that drew its membership equally from the different segments of the Asian American community. Their vision was that the members would eventually become the leaders of their respective communities and bridge the gaps fragmenting the Asian American community through their affiliation with a common organization.
The greatest hurdle in reaching this goal, however, was the lack of continuity among the memberships inherent in traditional Asian campus organizations. At best, student associations provided a circle of friends spanning the years of undergraduate study–and at worst–a group of familiar strangers encountered during periodic social functions. The yearly turn-over of most organizations’ officers made it extremely difficult to pursue any extended project as each new officer core set its own agenda. The founders’ solution to this dilemma was the adoption of a fraternal social structure. By forming Lambda Phi Epsilon as a new Asian American fraternity, the founders hoped to set new standards of excellence for Asian social organizations. The founders not only formed strong bonds of brotherhood with each other during their undergraduate experience, they also made commitments to the organization as alumni even after graduation.
Over the years, Lambda Phi Epsilon National has grown tremendously. Between the years 1990 and 1995, Lambda Phi Epsilon increased in size to over twenty chapters. Lambda Phi Epsilon became, and to this day continues to be, the first and only Nationally recognized Asian-American interest fraternity in the United States.
Today, there are thousands of brothers in the United States and throughout the world. Lambda Phi Epsilon National Fraternity continues to strive to achieve its motto, “To Be Leaders Among Men,” by providing services to assist brothers in achieving their fullest potential. Our Active Division continues to teach young men principles of leadership and strong moral character. Our Alumni Division then provides a forum in which brothers may apply these beliefs and become true leaders of their communities. Ultimately, it is the principles of Lambda Phi Epsilon that will inspire all brothers to lead their communities to a better, brighter way of life.

VCU CHAPTER HISTORY
Prior to our chapter, the campus at VCU had never seen the existence of an Asian-interest fraternity, despite the large number of Asian population on the campus. The issue finally became apparent by the Fall semester of 2005, and a group of dedicated young men set out to change that.
Tremendous dedication and commitment ensued. Many sleepless nights passed and weary bodies piled up. But the members of the group were motivated by the passion within and the bond that had grew between them, and they keep pushing forward.
Finally, on December 8th, 2007, twelve strong men emerged amidst the foggy woods carrying the proud Lambda letters on their chest. And they vowed then and there to carry them forever in their hearts.
